INSTALLATION OF ORACLE ENTERPRISE LINUX 7.9 ON VM WORKSTATION 17.1

1. Open the VM Workstation 17.1 and select the typical ( recommendation) option.

2. Click the Installer disc Image file and Browse the iso path

 3. Give a name to the virtual machine.


4.      Browse the location to save the VM file.


5.      Specify the disk size and choose split virtual disk into multiple files as show below.


6.      Click on the customize hardware to change the hardware parameters.


7.      Change the memory to 4Gb and with minimum 2 processors.


8.      Click close and finish button. The VM will start and Select Install Oracle Linux 7.9 and hit enter.


9.      The below wizards will appear and just wait for GUI pop up.


10. Select the default language and keyboard language as show below.

11. Select the time zone and click on done.

12. The installation summary wizard will open. Select the Software selection.


13. Choose Server with GUI from left and Compatibility Libraries, Development tools, performance tools and Hardware monitoring tools and click on Done.


14. Click on Installation Destination icon from installation summary wizard. Here am choosing default settings automatically configure partition and click on Done.


15. Make Hostname entry and enable the Ethernet connection.

16.  Now click on begin Installation.

17. Set the password for root user and create a user with password as shown in below wizards.





18. After Compilation of installation click on Reboot.


19. Accept the License information and enable the network Connection as show below.




20. Your Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.9 machine is ready

NOW INSTALL THE ORACLE 19C DATABASE ON ASM

1. Create a VM ( 6GB / 2 Core processor)

                                  - /40 GiB

                                       bootbios 1024 MiB

                                       /boot -  1024 MiB

                                       swap  -   6 GiB

                                       /tmp  -   3 GiB

                                       /     -  29 GiB

  Install Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.9 

 

2. Install the Pre-requiste RPM

a) Installation of oracle database preinstall package

3. Adding storage to Virtual Machine as below defined

 

 For OCR   - 2GiB ( Oracle Registry)

 For DATA  - 20 GiB (datafiles)

 & For RECO  - 10 GiB (recovery)

 

Go to VM settings

select Hardisk

click on add

then again select hardisk

give the size of hard disk

then save to a location

 

4.Labeling & partitioning of disks  

Disk /dev/sdb: 2147 MB

Disk /dev/sdc: 21.5 GB

Disk /dev/sdd: 10.7 GB 

[root@asmdb ~]# fdisk /dev/sdb

run the package as root user

login as oracle user on MobaXterm
